The event will be decisive for the crowning of three champions (Category 2, Category 4, and Overall).\n\nThe asphalt stages of the northern \u201ccathedral\u201d of rallying will set the scene for nostalgic moments among motorsport fans, showcasing legendary machines such as Jari-Matti Latvala\u2019s Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD, Will Graham\u2019s BMW M3, Richard Genesca\u2019s Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbo, and Philippe Mermet\u2019s Renault 5 Turbo Cevennes, among others.\n\nFormer Production World Champion Rui Madeira (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III) will be the only Portuguese driver in the event.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Although positioned as the 10th and final round of the EHRC calendar, the Historic Rally Fafe benefits from the fact that much remains undecided after nine events, attracting many of the championship\u2019s main contenders.\n\nAs a result, the rally will bring together 16 teams, including one Portuguese entry, and will feature the top five drivers in the overall EHRC standings: Maciej Lubiak (Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0), Will Graham (BMW M3), Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD), Ernie Graham (Ford Escort RS 1800), and Jes\u00fas Ferreiro P\u00e9rez (Ford Escort RS 1800).<\/p><p class=\"p1\">The championship title will be decided among those top three drivers, with favoritism leaning toward the Finnish driver who also serves as Toyota\u2019s team principal in the WRC\u2014temporarily replaced this week at Rally Japan by his compatriot Juha Kankkunen\u2014and who dominated the Rally de Asturias just over three weeks ago. Latvala is the clear favorite to win this first edition of the Historic Rally Fafe.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Although he has already secured the title in Category 3 (cars from 1976\u20131981), Spanish driver Jes\u00fas Ferreiro P\u00e9rez did not want to miss the championship finale with his Ford Escort RS 1800. Frenchman Bertrand Metivier (Ford Escort RS 1600), who will also compete in Fafe, currently holds third place.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Category 4 (1982\u20131992) heads into the final round with young British driver Will Graham leading the standings, 38 points ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala. Frenchman Richard Genesca, driving his Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbo, is aiming to finish the season on the podium in this category.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">The duo Rui Madeira and Nuno Rodrigues da Silva, who won the Production World Championship in 1995, will return to historic rallying in Fafe with their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III. They will compete as the sole entry in the new P2000\/P2 Class category (1993\u20132000).<\/p><p class=\"p1\">The Historic Rally Fafe will also count toward the Portuguese Classic Cup and the Northern
