Latvala increasingly extends his lead over the competition.

Latvala’s two rivals in the fight for the overall EHRC title, Will Graham (BMW E30 M3) and Maciej Lubiak (Porsche 911 2.7 RS), are now some distance behind. Graham briefly climbed to second place during the Cabeceiras stage, but soon after encountered problems, losing more than a minute and dropping to seventh. Lubiak, who from the start of the day struggled to fully exploit the power of his Porsche on the wet asphalt, managed to recover—finishing sixth on the opening stage—and ended the first half of the leg in third place, 1:44.5 behind the leader.

Rui Madeira (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III) started the day in fourth place but later lost one position to Richard Genesca (Subaru Legacy RS).

In the Portuguese Classics Cup, Rui Ribeiro (Ford Escort MK2) took the lead on the opening stage and has since consolidated his position, holding a 1m30.5s advantage over Duarte Castro (Renault 5 GT Turbo) and 1m46.0s over César Freitas (Ford Escort MK1).

The first leg of the Historic Rally Fafe, held this Friday, will conclude with a second run through the same three special stages.
